Sail training is an immensely powerful tool for social development, but requires significant financial support. We rely on the generosity and support of businesses to continue providing this unique opportunity to northern communities.
We would like to thank all of the companies that have supported us so generously donating not only funds but equipment and time. We endeavor to continue to develop the partnerships we have with our corporate sponsors and we welcome the chance to develop new partnerships also.

NORTH
Since 2010, North has supported the OYT North as part of our Corporate Responsibility (CSR) programme. North’s CSR programme aims to support local charities such as the OYT North which have strong links with the maritime community, a fundamental feature of our own organisation. Our staff are committed to fundraising initiatives locally and within the wider shipping community aimed at supporting such charitable causes. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with OYT North in the future and we are pleased that the North 150 Fund has contributed to such a worthy cause. (www.nepia.com)
HE Woolley
HE Woolley is delighted to help OYT North with its important work to develop young people in the North of England. We are a local, privately owned company and our staff, whether young or not (!) are the lifeblood of the organisation. If we could give them the experience and life coaching available on James Cook we would count ourselves very lucky indeed. (www.he-woolley.co.uk)
Marine Management Training & Security Limited (Marine MTS)
Having spent a number of years at the sharp end as the skipper of James Cook, I remember her and the crews who sailed on her with a great deal of fondness and regard. I know from first hand experience the positive results that can be achieved from undergoing the James Cook experience and, whenever I can, I will do whatever I can to help Ocean Youth Trust North. When my current ventures took me into the world of computerised navigation and marine technology, with the benefits these bring to all kinds of vessels I saw an opportunity to repay some of the kindnesses and care that I had experienced from the people involved in OYT North. Provision of the Microplot 7 Navigation system and the electronic charts which accompany it provides them with a state of the art navigation system which is scaleable to future regulation and improves the safety of their vessel. The system also allows an additional skill to be taught to the young people and volunteers who crew James Cook, keeping them right up to date with the changing marine environment. -I wish them fair winds and safe passage - Wynne Edwards (www.marinemts.com)
Reliance Precision Limited
Reliance Precision is pleased to continue our support of Ocean Youth Trust North. For the third consecutive year we have been able to provide our apprentices with the opportunity to assist the crew on the James Cook in the annual maintenance programme. They are thrust into an unfamiliar environment and performing tasks that they have previously had little or no experience of, and return to the workplace with renewed confidence to make their own decisions and contribute to the team.
